The Portland City Model
The Portland City Model is an interactive 3D model of the Portland, Oregon region developed to provide context for design and creative media. The aim is to create a public platform for interactive 3D design review and a standard for sharing building models.
The model is a work-in-progress, developed from public GIS data and 30 years of 3D modeling by NC3D and other firms and agencies who have contributed to the project. It includes regional topography, aerial imagery, building masses, street trees, striping, public art, and detailed buildings.
The model is published with Unreal Engine which was used to develop a sharable project viewer for exploring design proposals interactively and for rendering views and animations.
